WELCOME BACK TO THE GREEN

Since last reporting in December, we held our Christmas Party and celebrated in the usual Mooney Pearls and Mud Crabs style. Since then, the green has been “out”, undergoing its annual facelift. We anticipated the green being unavailable for just a few weeks, but this was pushed out much further, and competition

only just resumed a couple of weeks ago. Although it’s been hard getting back on the green in all this heat and humidity, it’s certainly been well worth it and a note of thanks must go to our greenskeeper for once again providing an excellent playing field.

We’ve now had time to see how the new arrangement is working for both Mooney Club and ours, and we have been brainstorming some ideas for improvements and general housekeeping to put forward in a separate

email to the Club. It’s hoped this will enable everyone to share the green happily and harmoniously, and to promote the sport for newcomers as well as protect valuable equipment.

There’s been some great interaction between our bowlers and club patrons having a go at barefoot bowls. Hopefully we’ve planted the seed and we’ll see them return to a green in the near future.

We’re all looking forward to the new season and the tournaments and competitions, both home and away.
